Marina and Urban Park
FLORIANÓPOLIS – SANTA CATARINA
Culture and leisure space on the edge of Florianópolis
The study is based on the Expression of Interest Procedure (PMI) launched by the Florianópolis City Hall to enable the implementation of an urban park and marina in the central region of the city, which historically maintained activities related to the sea. The project consists of a resumption of the city’s relationship with water, valuing the waterfront as a public space and coexistence with private uses such as services, commerce, leisure areas and the marine itself.
The creation of a marina and urban and aquatic park integrated in the same project aims to meet a demand of the city, offering a quality service to its users, in addition to qualifying the urban space, diversifying the activities of public use in the place, and establishing a greater relationship with the existing uses in the central area.
The urban insertion and central location of the project have the potential to extrapolate the characteristic uses of a marina to become one of the main publics and tourist spaces in Florianópolis, with good infrastructure and a variety of services.

The proposal expands the areas destined for public use, offering leisure equipment and great attractiveness, constituting an important revitalization for the waterfront, while it expands the target audience meeting the needs of the city’s residents and tourists. The anchor attractions increase the attraction potential of the place and make the project economically possible.
We proposed the expansion of the concession area, taking advantage of the potential of the site to incorporate new activities and attractions aimed at public use and enabling the rehabilitation of the waterfront with greater integration into the central urban fabric.
The proposed structure is reflected in the functions of each of the sectors: urban park-shore, which expands the shore and qualifies the public space with equipment that offers different uses and activities; urban-sea park, which receives attractive anchor, support services and water activities; and marine, with berths, dry and wet spaces, support services and attractive anchors.

The proposed needs program and activity matrix is distributed across sectors. An outdoor events area, associated with a restaurant and support / commercial equipment, qualifies the urban space in the Urban Park – Orla sector, as well as a children’s playground, skate park, amphitheater, sports courts, and outdoor gym. At the Urban Park – Seaside, there is a floating bar, water activities area, swimming pool, nautical club and attractive anchors that diversify the activities offered on site. In the marina area, in addition to specific services, a club space with restaurant, support services, business hub and events space is proposed.

The proposed anchor attractions consist of a museum / aquarium, the yacht club, and the marina club. They have services aimed at public use and allow the diversification of businesses associated with the feasibility of implementing the project.
