POÇO DE CALDAS – MINAS GERAIS
Urban tourism integrated circuit
Poços de Caldas is a tourist city since its foundation, known for its hot springs and sulfur springs. It was a pioneer in offering a series of services and body treatments based on the use of thermal water, with buildings created for these purposes. Antônio Carlos Thermals, Palace Casino and Palace Hotel are great tourism inducers for the municipality, until today. In addition to these, there are other tourist facilities in the municipality, still little explored in relation to their potential for tourist attractiveness. The natural landscape of the mountains, the parks and other natural attractions can diversify the tourist products offered.
The work is developed in the following context, within the scope of the Expression of Interest Procedure (PMI) launched by the city hall, aiming at structuring partnerships in various tourist facilities in the city: Cristo Redentor´s Complex, Cable Car Station, Recanto Japones (Japanese´s Nook), Fonte dos Amores, Véu das Noivas Tourist Complex and Cascata das Antas Tourist Area.
It was carried out an analysis of the region, to develop a future vision, a program of uses, zoning and a master plan for each of the equipment.
The attractions are placed in different points of the municipality of Poço de Caldas, but concentrated close to its central area, presenting different scales and specific degrees of complexity inherent to its characteristics.
The creation of a new Tourist Circuit in Poço de Caldas seeks to explore its potential as a tourist destination, strengthening the image of the city from the landscape, historical and social attributes. The objective is to prolong the stay of visitors in the municipality as well as in each of the available attractions. For this, we propose to remodel the dynamics of visiting the equipment, modernizing the structures and diversifying the services offered, promoting leisure, adventure, culture, coexistence, entertainment and other activities.
We propose the creation of the Unique Passport, which offers the user the possibility to visit the attractions using an integrated access passport. This strategy guarantees the financial viability of implementing the project, linked to effective improvements in the quality of the services offered.
The Cristo´s Complex is the highest point of Poço de Caldas, overlooking the city and the Serra de São Domingos (São Domingo´s Saw). It houses the Christ the Redeemer Monument, 30 meters high, the cable car station and areas with the potential to house new uses and activities related to greater proximity to the natural environment.

The Fonte dos Amores (Lover´s Fountain) is a very traditional and emblematic attraction in the city. It has trails in the middle of the forest, including one that leads to the Monument of Christ. We propose the implementation of a new support equipment with food and toilets, as well as an exhibition circuit in the garden.

After the Complexo do Cristo, the Complexo do Véu das Noivas is the largest scale attraction. The project seeks to highlight its quality of integration with the natural environment and fauna, with interpretive spaces, structures for contemplation and renovation of existing equipment to offer food service, store, and event space. For Cascata das Antas, we foresee a reorganization of the visitation dynamics, in addition to new modular support structures, such as food, toilets or a store for the sale of picnic items, for example. As for Recanto Japones, we propose the reform of the garden and landscaping and activation of a program focused on Japanese culture, with activities integrated into the garden space.
