Serra da Bocaina Ecolodge
Accommodation in Nature
Located in a region that has more than fifty natural and tourist attractions. It is only 100 km away from Itatiaia National Park and 70 km from Serra da Bocaina National Park. The area has great potential to house a new development that enhances not only physical characteristics, but also environmental and ecotourism activities. The socioeconomic context of the region is also a main factor.
Thus, we carried out a feasibility study for the implementation of the new Hotel Ecolodge Bocaina, with concept development, masterplan and implementation studies for the project structures.
Located in the municipality of Bananal, the area is between Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, in a context of tourist regions with consolidated and quite diversified attractions.

The land, of approximately 270 hectares, houses an area of preserved Atlantic Forest. It also has the presence of a lake that makes it possible and serves to support preexisting activities and infrastructure, such as a dam, a breeding ground for trout, an embarkation point and a waterfall. The existence of patches of land with low or deforested vegetation is an opportunity for new interventions, with minimal impact on the natural environment. The analysis of the slope of the land, allows the identification of the easiest areas for construction.
The usage program relates to the location settings. We proposed a unique concept of accommodation associated with nature and gastronomic and ecotourism experiences. The relationship with the natural context, the presence of the Atlantic Forest, the proximity of water and topography, guided the sectorization and the implementation of different types of accommodation.

Six centers were defined with different activities and types of accommodation unit. The proposed typologies are causally related to the natural context. Thus, chalets, lake lodges, forest huts, hotel (or combined rooms) and glamping (luxury camp) were developed. Besides the accommodation centers, we proposed a visitor center, restaurant, space for events and others for well-being and services, water activities, gastronomic nucleus, land activities and social activities.
